How to connect via SFTP

Our SFTP sync service offers a reliable way to automatically upload and update your roster data in Learning Genie with a nightly sync of your uploaded roster file. This method is compatible with any Student Information System (SIS) capable of executing a query to export the required data fields directly to our server.

 

Why Use SFTP Sync?

The SFTP sync is an ideal solution for organizations that need a consistent, automated process for data integration. By tailoring a query within your SIS, you can specify the data fields for export, ensuring that all essential Learning Genie fields are included. This setup is especially beneficial if you’re also uploading data to DRDP Online, as it allows for seamless integration of the fields required for a successful DRDP upload.

 

Steps for Setting Up SFTP Sync

1. Please review the preparation steps outlined in this document and prepare your sample roster file.

2.  Go to Learning Genie > Admin settings > Import/Sync homepage > SFTP Sync in SIS.

 

 

3. Upload the file.

 

4. Map the columns in your file with the options in Learning Genie.

5. Review the checking file to see what changes will be made when you proceed

6. Proceed and select the server you'll be using.

7. Paste the credentials where needed (Paste in your SIS if you decide to use the LG server or paste in LG if you decide to use your SIS server).

8. Upload your roster file to the server and test the file and complete the connection.

Important notes:

  • The sync occurs nightly. To ensure successful synchronization the following day, please submit files to the server by 7 PM Pacific Time.
  • All essential fields required by Learning Genie must be completed; other fields may be left blank.
  •  If any essential fields are missing or there are errors in the file, the import will not be processed. In such cases, please correct the errors and re-upload the file.
