Part I. Add Learning Genie to ClassLink and Set Sharing Permission
1. Add Learning Genie to your ClassLink Account
To connect Learning Genie to your ClassLink account, you must add Learning Genie as an app in ClassLink. We recommend adding it to your organization's ClassLink launchpad so teachers and parents can log into their Learning Genie account via ClassLink.
- Log into ClassLink and click the "Apps" tab at the top of the page. In the Apps section, click "+ADD" in the upper right-hand corner to add a new app.
- Turn on the "Show Development Apps" switch. Then, search for "Learning Genie" and click the "+Add" button on the right-hand side to add it as a new app in ClassLink.
- Set up your sharing permissions with Learning Genie. Once done, click "Return to Apps" to go back to the Apps section.
By choosing the "RULE-BASED PERMISSIONS" option, you can granularly select which schools, teachers, and classes in ClassLink you want to share with Learning Genie. To set up your sharing permissions with Learning Genie, please watch the video below.
- To activate Learning Genie in your ClassLink account, simply turn on the "Enabled" switch.
2. Share Demographics with Learning Genie in ClassLink

Navigate to the Learning Genie configuration page by clicking on the "More Actions" gear icon,
located at the far right.

Once on the configuration page, select "DataGuard" > "Demographics" > "Enable Demographics". Select the fields of data you want to share with Learning Genie, then click "Save" to apply the changes.
Part II. Connecting ClassLink with Learning Genie
1. Log into your Learning Genie admin account.
2. Navigate to "Admin Settings" > "Import/Sync" > "API Sync" > "ClassLink".
3. Click on the ClassLink logo to begin the SIS sync settings.
4. Follow the instructions provided in the PDF Instruction Guide to add Learning Genie to ClassLink and set the sharing permissions correctly. Once done, click the "Done, Proceed to Connect ClassLink" button to begin setting up the ClassLink API Sync settings.
5. You can choose to either "Login with ClassLink" or "Input API Credentials".
6. After logging in or inputting the credentials, proceed to "Test Connection". Learning Genie will perform the following checks:
a. Verify if Learning Genie has been added to your ClassLink account;
b. Verify if Learning Genie has access to your data in ClassLink, such as schools, classrooms, and students;
c. Verify if there is available data from ClassLink to pull, such as schools, classrooms, or students.
7. Provide the email account(s) where you would like to receive notification emails for the sync.
8. After the connection test has succeeded, select the SIS sites and classes you want to sync. To ensure accuracy, download the roster checking file and review your roster data.
9. Congratulations! You have completed all the setup steps. To initiate the sync, simply click on the "Schedule sync" button.
10. Please note that your roster data will be synced automatically at night. The synchronization results will be sent to you the next day via email.
11. To check the status of the sync, navigate to "Roster Import History" to view details.
