The Learning Genies Unit Planner is an innovative tool designed to streamline lesson planning for educators, offering a comprehensive platform to create, organize, and track educational units. With its user-friendly interface, teachers can efficiently map out lessons, set learning goals, and ensure curriculum alignment. It also supports collaboration, allowing educators to share resources and ideas seamlessly.
Hot to Create Your Units
1. Navigate to the Curriculum menu by clicking on the left-hand side menu, then select "Unit Planner"
2. Click on New Unit in the top right corner
3. Fill up the fields and filters

- Unit Name: Give your Unit a name, you can use the main topic to name it
- Unit Description: Include all the details you need this unit to have, also use the Description Assistant to make it easier by answering just 4 questions
- Grade: Select the correct age group, remember the unit and lessons will be adapted based on the children’s ages.
- Weeks: Select how many weeks this unit will be, you need at least 1 week.
- Language: Confirm your language.
- State Standards: Select your State and make sure you select the correct Framework (this will affect the measures the unit will cover
- Subjects/Domains: Select from the Auto-adapted version (you will just select the domains) and the Specific Standards (you will select the domains and measures) this unit will cover.
- Optional: Create Localized Curriculum -This option will enable the tool to create unit plans that is specific to the set geographical location.
3. Click Generate to create the basic structure or the unit's foundations.
You’ll receive an overview, unit trajectory, key concepts, and guiding questions.
Customize the unit by adding or removing elements as needed. If you want fresh ideas, click Update and Regenerate. Once you’re satisfied, click Next to proceed, or Save if you plan to continue later.
4. After proceeding with the unit foundations, you can now confirm and generate the weekly themes, along with their overview and relevant standards (measures) for each week. Use the Lessons counter to set the desired number of lessons per week.
You can update—add, remove, or change anything as needed—or regenerate the details for a specific week or for all weeks at once to keep content fresh and aligned with your objectives. Once everything is ready, click Confirm & Next to finalize.

5. Generate and Review Weekly Lessons

After confirming all the weekly themes, the tool will generate lesson ideas for each week.

Review the generated lesson ideas for each week. To make edits, click the Pencil Button at the bottom right corner of each lesson idea. Here, you can adjust the title, content, activity type, and measures as needed. You may also choose to Regenerate a single lesson idea or all lesson ideas for the week.

Once you’re satisfied with a lesson idea, click Confirm to save it. Alternatively, you can select Confirm All to save all lesson ideas at once when you’re ready.
6. After confirming your lesson ideas, enhance your unit by creating engaging station-based activities. Click the Generate Station Ideas button at the bottom of the page.
- You can select specific stations for which you’d like to generate activities, allowing for targeted learning experiences that cater to different interests and skill levels. Feel free to choose one, multiple, or all stations to ensure a diverse range of activities that can keep students actively engaged and facilitate collaborative learning.
7. Once the Lesson Ideas and Station Ideas are all confirmed and finalized you are ready for the final steps, please click Generate Detailed Lesson Plans.
Learning Genie will create each lesson's detailed description, including:

- Title, Objective, and Materials
- DLL Vocabulary and Phrases
- Implementation Steps
- Standards Teaching Tips: Guidance aligned with learning standards or developmental goals to aid skill development.
- Typical Behaviors and Observation Tips: Especially valuable for teachers new to DRDP, these tips help identify which child behaviors align with the standards or measures associated with the activity.
- Universal Design for Learning: For learners with IEPs or English Language Learners, providing personalized guidance for inclusive teaching.
- Culturally Responsive Practices: Tips for culturally responsive teaching
- At-Home Activities: Suggestions for family engagement activities.
Review and make any final adjustments before confirming. This structured yet flexible planning tool equips educators to implement high-quality, aligned lessons effectively.
You may also Batch Generate and Confirm so Learning Genie can continue doing its Magic in the backend for all the lessons for all the weeks nd you can continue with your daily duties (this process may take 2-3 minutes depending on how many lessons you want to generate)
Once the process is complete you will see a nice banner in the Top Right Corner letting you know the Unit is Fully Generated, click View and then click Publish; now your unit is complete and you can add it to your Weekly Planner.
